I thought this book was just okay. It was quick reading and it did keep my interest. However, I knew somewhat how is was going to end. It's not one of Spark's best books, but it's still a good read.
And CRIED like a baby. This book moved alot easier.
I read True Believer first and then started this one. True Believer was good but long to read.
I really enjoyed this book. But I have this wierd thing that even if the book is slow I finish it because I can't handle not knowing what happened.
I couldn't really get into the story. Loved the characters but struggled with the writting of it.
Loved the process of them learning about each other. Good book.defiently would recommend.
It was just plain ridiculous. I have never read anything by Sparks before and given a number of the reviews on "At first sight" I take it this is an unusual low for him. I had to force myself to finish this book. I'm all for a good romantic novel but downgrading women to stupidity like Sparks does is no necessity for a good romantic story. The book is very boring at first and never really gets going until the end. But what really messed up the book for me was all the clichés like "Jeremy hoped she wasn't one of those girls who slept in a green mask" etc. This book was definitely written to be made into a movie and even then it wouldn't be all that good. And even though the end takes you by surprise it is not enough to make this a somewhat decent book.
With the above in mind, I expected another excellent read as I embarked on this book, however became quickly frustrated with seemingly disjointed, unrealistic (yes, I know that this is a novel) and frankly boring story. at least the first half. 2. Spark's books and I was beginning to wonder if this guy can do no wrong; all of the books I've read thus far are all excellent. 1. 4. But this book was just written / put together poorly. Sparks, that's to be expected.
Like some of the other reviewers, I was about to give up on the book, but just had to tough it out in the off chance that the book would improve--> and it did. etc.). I've read a fair amount of N. 3. It had seemed as if this was a half-baked effort via the author to meet another hectic deadline and thus resorted to one of his formulas in regards to writing a novel that people would buy (ie have a guy, have a southern girl, have the setting in some small southern town with all of the usual stereotypes, they fall in love etc. ok, since we all read N. The excellent 2nd half redeemed the poorly written 1/2 half and in the end, I was glad that I read and finished the book. On a slight tangent, ironically, I've always felt that the author's best work has been his autobiography (3 weeks with my brother)--> a true masterpiece.
I love this book like all the others by Nicholas Sparks. Once I start reading them I can't put them down.
